The Specter of Wildfires

A dramatic forest fire engulfing trees, creating intense smoke and flames against a natural woodland backdrop.

We all know that recently we have heard about an enormous forest fire that is spreading between eastern Europe and the Middle East. If I mention it exactly, it’s in between Greece and Turkey. Over 2,000 people were evacuated from the site where this disaster occurred. It is one of the most attractive tourism destinations in Europe.

But now most of them have turned to ashes. And just after the Turkish government was informed of this serious disaster, they have no facilities to handle the condition. They have requested foreign aid. So they turned to foreign aid. And, this made the condition a bit more serious in the meantime. But can someone blame only the government for the spread of the wildfire? I say “Sure, not”.

Forest fires are considered natural hazards like tsunamis, floods, volcanic eruptions, etc. Even though they are natural, we humans are responsible for the disasters. Someone can say, “Hey Hey, I didn’t do anything, don’t involve myself.” Yes, technically, this person is right. Individually, no one has done anything. But “we” did it, the worldwide community did it.

Here is something that my community around me and I believe: “Natural disasters are caused by nature to balance out itself.” It’s like a mother leading the way to the kids. We should listen to Mother Nature. We should be very careful when dealing with her. Nature provides us with everything balanced. I think we should do the same. We must not rob something that nature does not give us.

Scientists discovered that there had never been a massive forest fire before the 1910s. “What happened after 1910?” the scientists wanted to know. At the moment, they knew, nature itself did not want to change, nor did they. Then who did it? It’s us, the Earth’s community that made it. We wanted to have an industrial revolution all around the world. So there’s nothing wrong with nature itself.

Scientists found several causes for massive wildfires.

One of them is global warming. We know it happens mainly due to the rapid industrialization and as a result of the revolutionary & anti-environmental ideas of humans. We can see these days, cold countries and tropical countries having some unconditional climate conditions as a result of global warming. When it comes to cold countries the summer has been a nightmare. The heat is very high. We remember recently, the Canadian News reported that about 500 people were killed by summer heatwaves. The climate of the world changes instantly. Why does it happen? And how does it happen?

Well, the answer to the first question, we know it’s because of global warming.

And now how it happens.

As the main reason for global warming, the release of greenhouse gases can be mentioned. So, we should stop releasing greenhouse gases, shouldn’t we?

Although, we are acknowledged that no considerable number of greenhouse gas releasing factories have taken any step to reduce global warming recently nor a long ago. We cannot say all of the relevant alliances. But not quite enough.

And for the wildfire problem, scientists have discovered another reason.

Which is improper destruction of forests. Surprisingly, yes.

The following video will show you how it takes place.

Why wildfires have gotten worse — and what we can do about it | Paul Hessburg

Well, now we know that the environment was designed to cause a wildfire. Now let’s see how a wildfire can be created. There are three main reasons to create a fire. It is represented as the fire triangle.  According to the fire triangle,To create a fire  there should be the first factor which is called

To create a fire  there should be the first factor which is called

 Necessary Temperature

Necessary temperature for a wildfire can be provided by,

  • Mistakenly unextinguished fire of a campfire
  • Fire of a matchstick
  • Glowing Splinter of a cigarette
  • Naturally caused by fire, it happens by the heat caused by rubbing two trees against each other. This needs low humidity and high temperature
  • High Tempered thunderbolts

Although there is a huge chance for natural causes (I mean, as a result of global warming), specialists say that about 90% of wildfires in the world happen as a result of human activities.

Fuel

Well for that the forest has wood enough for the fire. But here since large trees have been cut down improperly the trees are adapted to grow to have a small gap between each other (The video explains this). Because of that, the fire spreads every rapidly as it becomes uncontrollable.

Oxygen

For a fire, Oxygen is a necessary fact. In Wildfires, wind with oxygen helps to spread the fire more quickly.

As I said 90% of wildfire incidents have occurred for non-natural reasons. So as you can see we are the people who are responsible for it.

And we should be aware of the facilities which a government should have to minimize the catastrophe. It’s really important.

And someone can say what if that 10% of percentage would cause a wildfire. As I studied, that 10% of wildfires occurred to balance the environment itself from being a huge wildfire. It’s a natural adaptation. The people have been immigrating to the forest and they should be either warned or moved to another place. The technology is updated now. We can recognize natural WildFire areas. A country can prevent it.

Millions of animals died in these wildfires and many species have been extinct.

It was a great disaster for the floras and faunas.

So as now we know, we have damaged nature in many ways. Excessive Wildfires are one other way to balance the impact we have on nature. If we really need to prevent this or if we need to reduce this, we should take steps as soon as possible. We should focus more on what we have. Not to discover any other planet to live on rather we should give our priority to our earth; where we were born and we should live on it.

Nicely, the people’s minds are being enlightened now to protect the world. Even huge companies have added eco-friendliness as a business trick. Yes, that is good. Many activists and people especially, youth are having huge campaigns and are trying to spread awareness among people about our Environment. Let’s support them and mother nature.
